We've gathered a list of commonly asked questions by parents of Lafayette Elementary School students. If you continue to have questions after going through this page, check out our student handbook which is found in the Quick List section of our  or you may contact us directly.

 

Students should not arrive before 7:10 a.m. Students stay in the cafeteria until 7:25 a.m. then we will dismiss them to their classrooms. If your child arrives after 7:50 a.m. they ware considered tardy and must check in at the office. Please walk your child into the office if they arrive late.

Yes. Please bring your ID any time you come to the school.

Non-interrupted instructional time is intensive reading instruction that begins at 7:50 a.m. and continues until 9:30 a.m. During this time we will not allow classroom interruptions.

Yes; please make an appointment with your child’s teacher. One of our administrators will accompany you.

Any time a child is checked out before dismissal it is an early checkout. We will not permit checkouts after 2:00 p.m.

Yes, please check with your child’s teacher for his/her lunch time.

Yes, please bring the lunch labeled with your child’s name and teacher to the office prior to his/her lunch time.

You may send money to school with your child, come by and pay in the cafeteria, or go online to put money directly into your child’s account.

No. State regulations do not allow students to charge their lunches.

Yes. Please contact our food service office at (662) 234-7320 with any questions.

No. Parents must present proper identification before we will call a child to the office.

p.m., and bus dismissal is at 2:45 p.m. If your child is not picked up by 3:00 p.m. we will send him/her to afterschool daycare, and we will charge you.

No. 12:00 p.m. is the cutoff time for transportation changes.

The car riders’ entrance is beside the BP Station, and children we meet at the circle for drop off. All parents will be entering the circle at the entrance closest to LUES, exit the circle closest to LES, and continue around the back of the building on our new road. This is opposite to past years. Parents will not exit campus beside the BP Station.

Yes, please seat your child on the driver’s side for ease of loading and unloading. All parents will be using the lane closest to the schools.

Yes, birthday cupcakes or cookies are welcome. However, please do not bring party hats, treats, or supplies. Students can receive cupcakes or cookies as dessert after lunch.

Yes, and it is important to read the instructions before your student has a trip. Teachers will notify you of field trip details.

Visitor parking is behind LUES cafeteria or the football parking area. Please do not park on the sidewalk area due to bus traffic during the day.

Please send correspondence in your child’s communicator folder or via e-mail. We have listed all teacher e-mails in the handbook.

Yes, we have a paid afterschool program from 3:00-5:30 p.m. daily. Cost for the afterschool care is $125.00 per month or $10.00 per day. Students left after 5:30 p.m. will have an additional cost. Payment must be received on the first of each month. Afterschool is a service we provide, and students must follow rules or may lose the opportunity to attend.

No, the state has not funded the pre-k program. If you would like to have your child placed on a waiting list, please contact our office.

Our district has a calling system that will notify you. We will utilize radio and television notifications as well or via our social media accounts.

You may call if you wish, however, it isn’t necessary. Upon the student returning to school, the requirement is to make sure you send a note within two days explaining the absence. You may use the form in the back of the handbook (yellow pages).

The all call system will call parents if the child's teacher marks him/her as absent. Parents will still receive a call if the student is brought in tardy after attendance has been taken.
